A    West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC); General Certificate of Education (GCE); Ordinary Level (O’L) or equivalent at not more than two sittings.

B   Other National Government-approved Examination bodies: National Examination Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) or equivalent at one or two sittings. In all cases or in any of the results being presented, students must have:

i       A minimum of Credit level pass in at least 5 subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant subjects in not more than two sittings.

ii      In addition, candidates must have acceptable scores in the University Matriculations Examinations (UME) and/ or placement tests administered by the Clifford University.

C.    Applicants awaiting the results of the Senior Secondary School Examinations are eligible to apply. However, authenticated results must satisfy the entry requirements before consideration for regular admission and matriculation is affected.


All admissions offered by the University are Provisional until all the Credentials of the candidate have been verified and certified by the Registrar.


Prospective students should obtain, fill in and return their Application Forms along with three referees’ recommendations and photocopies of their certificates to the Registrar. The required application fee or evidence of payment must accompany the Form. Students are required to present all original official/ permanent certificates at registration time for official verification.


1.       Students in this category are expected to have obtained minimum pass grades in at least two relevant subjects at the Higher School Certificate (HSC), General Certificate of Education (GCE A ’Level) or equivalents.

2.       Clifford University reserves the right to determine admission cumulative points for admission.

3.       Other relevant Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates from institutions recognized by Clifford University Senate may be considered for admission.

4.       All such Diplomas, Degrees and Certificates submitted but not from a   recognized institution in Nigeria will be subjected to conversion and verification before deemed to be acceptable.

5.      All Candidates that scale through 1-4 above will equally be required to undergo a screening test conducted by Clifford University.


Change of programmes will only be allowed after the completion of two semesters. The student’s request is channelled through the Department which, in consultation with relevant units of the University, recommend as appropriate by signing the change of programme form as an indication of releasing the student to the accepting Department.  

Clifford University adopts the 5-point grading system after its adoption by the University Senate and translates as follows:

To be eligible for the award of a degree, a student in the four Faculties presently mounted by Clifford University must obtain a total of 120 credits in a four-year degree programme, or 90 credits in a three-year degree programme including those earned from all courses. Those earned in the GST courses are inclusive. Clifford University degrees shall be awarded on the authority of Senate only to students who have been found worthy in character and learning. Students must have successfully completed and passed all prescribed examinations for courses required for a degree programme. Students shall not be involved in gross misconduct, such as, but not limited to examination misconduct, convicted felony: other convicted criminal offences; and association with or membership of secret cult or any organization proscribed by the University, or Government.


One of the following four classifications of Degrees shall be awarded in Clifford University based on the CGPA earned:

Thus the University does not award a pass degree.
